Successful applicants complete Academy training before operating independently. Further development and specialist opportunities become available through performance, experience and departmental requirements.

Joining Requirements

Applicants should meet every requirement below and be ready to demonstrate them during the recruitment process.

Follow all service regulations, operational policies and standards of conduct.

Communicate clearly and professionally, including over the police radio.

Remain mature, respectful and calm in challenging situations.

Be willing to complete Academy training and accept feedback.

Work effectively as part of a team and follow lawful command instructions.

Maintain a professional record and good standing within the community.

Be able to complete a minimum of 6 hours of active duty each week.

If a valid reason prevents the 6-hour requirement, MPS may place the officer on part-time status with a 4-hour weekly requirement.

Provide honest information throughout the application and interview process.

How to Apply

Visit the police station and report to the front desk. Speak to the recruitment representative holding the clipboard to begin your application.

  1. Travel to the police station.
  2. Enter the public front desk area.
  3. Find the person holding the clipboard.
  4. Speak with them and request a police application.
  5. Wait for the recruitment team to contact you about the next stage.
Important: Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Applicants may be invited to an interview before Academy training begins.
